Elon Hosts Eyewitness Identification Meeting

On September 7th and 8th Elon hosted a meeting of scientists to discuss the development of field study protocols. Researchers present were Beth Loftus, Gary Wells, Roy Malpass, Rod Lindsey, Brian Cutler, Nancy Steblay, Steve Clark, and myself (Steve Penrod participated via conference call). Others present included Barry Scheck and various members of law enforcement.

During the meeting I was asked to present our lab's research on PC_Eyewitness, a computerized system to construct and administer lineups. Included in the presentation were the systems we have developed for researchers, a PC version we have developed for law enforcement, and our newest system that can be accessed remotely using a web browser. There are many advantages to using a web browser including the ability to create a centralized location specializing on lineup construction and the ability to administer the lineup using a hand held PDA.

More information about these systems can be found elsewhere on this blog.
